    End of the Spear

Calvary Chapel, Costa Mesa had a Missionary Awareness day on January 7th, 2006. Frank and Marie Drown were one the guests at the conference, they lived many years in Ecuador and shared about how they ministered to different tribes in Ecuador. Frank shared about his fellowship with Nate Saint in the years that proceeded the incident of him being killed by the Auca Indians. Frank shared how Nate would fly the airplane through the jungle and had this burning desire to share the gospel with the Auca Indians.

Steve Saint, son of Nate Saint shared how he remembered his dad taking off in the mornings on his plane and then would return back in the evening. Young Steve would anxiously wait for his dad's return every evening. Sometimes on certain missions his dad might come back a day later. Steve described how his dad was his greatest hero.

Nate Saint, Ed McCully, Jim Elliot, Peter Fleming, and Roger Youderian were the 5 missionaries who set out on a mission to share the gospel with the Auca Indians. For weeks they would circle around the village and drop gifts for the Auca Indian tribe. Then came the day they looked forward to, the day they would meet those they had a passion to share news of God's love. That day didn't turn out as they planned but would set the stage for the months and years to follow.

And young Steve is left with emptiness as his mom tells him that his dad will never be coming back home.

Steve Saint and Minacaye were at the missions conference. They shared the events that have transpired from that day. When you see the forgiveness, reconciliation and love between Steve and the man who killed his father. There is no real logical explanation, it just doesn't make any sense.

    Except for ...

From the previews, behind the scenes making of the film and testimonies of those the story is based on, this is a must to watch.
